Exibition HER NORTHERN CALLING Rundāle

Exhibition "Her Northern Calling" Shines in Rundāle

On May 4th of this year, the creative team behind "Baltu Rotas" and the photobook "Her Northern Roots" will unveil an inspiring jewelry and photography exhibition, "Her Northern Calling," at the Rundāle multifunctional center.

The exhibition's opening is scheduled for a symbolic date – the day of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, and the event will conclude with a beautiful concert, “The Call,” performed by singer Aija Vītoliņa. The exhibition in Rundāle will be open from May 5th until the summer solstice, ending on June 22nd.

The authors of the exhibition invite visitors to delve into the stories of our nation's culture and people, capturing close-ups that echo through the centuries and continue to empower each new generation.

"The visit of this traveling exhibition to Rundāle is not a coincidence, as very creative, persistent, and resilient people live and work here, resonating with the exhibition's emotions. The exhibition will feature various themes from the “Baltu Rotu” collections created over 30 years, as well as the nuanced black-and-white photographs by Una Taal, whose main subjects are women. Therefore, in creating this exhibition - a joint project, we wanted to convey a message through symbols about our nation's self-awareness and values, marked by the interplay of Latvian and northern nature,” comments the exhibition curator Laura Geistarde-Šube, Development Manager at SIA “Baltu Rotas.”

The exhibition “Her Northern Calling” is the first joint project designed in such a content-rich and visual form, focusing on both historical heritage and contemporary issues in Latvia and the world.

“Rundāle not only associates with beautifully restored architecture and serene splendor but also with an inspiring and abundantly blooming garden. Therefore, this spring, buds are starting to burst into bloom, lilac flowers are blossoming, and new roses are opening in the jewelry…” says Inita Straupe, co-founder and chief designer of SIA “Baltu Rotas,” about the upcoming event.

The exhibition's ambassador is Laura Lūse, director of Rundāle Palace Museum.
